Working on a new project, I found myself looking through different scans and ran across this study I did a couple of years ago. It was actually quite an interesting study project which helped in the training of the eye. The idea was to accurately duplicate a photo of a famous person. Einstein has a very distinctive face, so I chose him.

This felt like it took forever! And it still isn’t perfect. When I look at the finished piece, as seen below, it looks pretty good……. UNTIL you put them together.

So, the thought here is that you never stop learning. You have to challenge yourself. The hardest part of that is when you hit the slumps and flat out don’t want to do anything with a pencil, charcoal or paint.
